Woods I by deedee20382 Woods I by deedee20382
We were walking through those trees, with the fog surrounding us and giving the place a surreal feeling that made us think of the Lord of the Rings...

Oh, no photomanipulation at all, that's exactly as I saw and photographed it.

Truly magical, what a wonderful experience you must have had. I love the hush the fog creates too. It's one of my favourite weather conditions and an amazing photo.

:aww: Wonderful experience, but it lasted only a very few minutes - just the time necessary to take the camera out of the backpack and take a couple of pictures.
Thanks for the nice comment! :thanks:

Capperullo, me l'ero persa questa!
Magnifica davvero!

Even before I saw the picture, just seeing the thumbnail view made me think - 'oh that looks like the slopes of the banks of Anduin in winter.' :)
Have you tried putting this in black and white, though?

...you mean, Anduin the river in Tolkien's Middle Earth? I had to look it up in Wikipedia 'cause I'm not a Tolkien's fan. But I've seen the LOTR film, and yes, we all thought about that when we got into the woods and saw this scene. :)
I haven't tried the B&W, even though one of my friends who was there suggested the same thing. It's just that I do like the weak tones you can see in it. But since you're the second one who suggest me this thing, I think I must try it! ;)

Yep, Anduin is THE river. :) I think 'Anduin' means 'river' in elvish. :D

I can see why you like the faint, very deasturated tones... they are beautiful too.

...let me guess, are you a Tolkien's reader? I had a friend who was mad for it, he had all of his books, in different languages and editions. He even organized meetings with other fans... For my b-day he gave me the LOTR, and I know that sooner or later I'll start reading it :D I've even got "The Hobbit", in English... And I'll also read that one, some day... ;P I'm not really into those fantasy tales, actually. The only ones I liked were "The neverending story" and "Momo" by Michael Ende. I loved that writer and his books, really.

About the picture, I've got one in which the green of the trees stands out more, and I love it, but everyone kept telling me that the less colours there were, the better the picture appeared, so... Sometimes is good to listed to other people advices ;)

Well, I can't say I have all of Tolkien's work (notably the 12 volumes of the Histories of Middle Earth, which I haven't read yet!) but I confess I have read all of the major works quite a few times and am currently reading a dual literary biography of Tolkien and C. S Lewis (who wrote the Narnia books ) - so I guess you could call me a Tolkien reader! :D

I would say that Tolkien's work classifies more as myth and epic than science fiction and fantasy and though the Hobbit may seem more like a children's book, the 3 main LOTR books are incredible. Do read the LOTR books sometime if you can - as somebody who has obsessively read them over and over again, I cannot recommend them more. :)
